Eastern York’s Erin Glatfelter was the top York County performer on the opening day of the District 3 Girls’ Golf Individual Championship at Briarwood West Golf Course.
Glatfelter fired a 19-over-par 89 over the 5,714-yard layout. She is tied for ninth, 15 shots behind the leader, Central Dauphin’s Allison Cooper, who shot a 4-over-par 74. Cooper has an eight-shot lead over Hershey’s Laura Rhoads.
A total of 15 players made the cut and will compete in Saturday’s second-and-final round, also to be played at Briarwood West.
Other than Glatfelter, the only other York County player to make the cut was Spring Grove’s Victoria Kuntz, who shot a 93 and is tied for 13th.
Other York County competitors and their scores were: South Western’s Jessia Weaver (95), York Tech’s Rebecca Ream (96), Spring Grove’s Victoria Ross (103) and Northeastern’s Malori Bloss-Senft (104).
The District 3 Boys’ Golf Individual Championship starts Friday, also at Briarwood West. The low 40 scorers, and ties, will advance to Saturday’s second-and-final round. That will also be at Briarwood West.
