Gettysburg boys to play for District 3 3-A soccer title

Gettysburg will play for the District 3 Class 3-A boys’ soccer championship on Thursday evening.

The third-seeded Warriors punched their ticket to the title game by rolling past seventh-seeded Fleetwood on Monday evening, 4-0, in a semifinal contest.

Matt Yingling had a hat trick for the Warriors and now has 26 goals this season. That also ties him with 1996 Gettysburg grad Mike Campbell for second on the school’s all-time scoring list with 67 career goals.

Cade Wilhelm had Gettysburg’s other goal.

Fleetwood fell to 16-5-1.

The Warriors improved to 20-2 and will now face top-seeded Lower Dauphin for the title at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Hersheypark Stadium.

Lower Dauphin improved to 23-0 by dominating fourth-seeded Daniel Boone in the other semifinal, 5-0. Daniel Boone dropped to 13-8.
