York College field hockey midfielder Alexa Taylor picked up a pair of honors thanks to her performance over the week ending Oct. 30.

Taylor, a senior from Red Lion High School, was named both the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week and the York College Spartan Athlete of the Week.

Her efforts helped the Spartans to a pair of wins. The team advanced to the CAC semifinals. Taylor helped a fellow Red Lion grad, Ali Posey, find success, assisting on all three of Posey’s goals in a match against Frostburg State. She also helped lead a defense that held Frostburg to two shots on goal.

Taylor followed up that effort up with a goal of her own during York’s 3-0 win over St. Mary’s in the CAC tournament first round on Sunday. A Taylor-led defense also did its part, keeping St. Mary’s from recording a shot, helping the Spartans post their fifth shutout of the season.

Taylor leads the team with six assists and has also scored three goals and posted 12 points on the season.
